The Scout Oath states: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
The Scout Law states: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obediant, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
At Troop 56 we have seen over many years that this program works and we are committed to growing the program. This means that we invest in our youths by
teaching our scouts important skills (e.g. first-aid) towards rank advancement
counseling them towards leadership positions in the troop
taking them on various outdoor events (e.g, camping, cycling)
introducing them to various topics as part of the merit badge program (e.g., aviation, woodworking, photography)
This requires perseverance, but has been extremely rewarding over the decades of this troop
